Google Grand Central
I signed up with Grand Central tonight. The feature set looks awesome! They even had a local number for me to choose from.
You can get a list of features here. The thing that drew me in was the ability to have a single local phone number that would ring all of my other ones in a very configurable sequence depending on who was making the call.
For instance, if my wife is calling, it will ring every phone number in my list until I answer or a voice mail box is prompted. If it’s someone that I don’t know, only a couple of my phones will ring, leaving my home phone untouched. It even has a check box to only ring the home phone if it is not within normal business hours.
I can check my voice mails visually using my Palm Treo 755P. I can also check them from my laptop.
So far, this service bats a thousand. I’m not sure what they’ll charge once this thing goes live. As long as they offer these basic features for free, it’ll be a hit.
