Flickr Offers Video Uploads

Flickr has been a key photo sharing web 2.0 site since 1994. There have been rumors that Flickr was going to start hosting videos in addition to pictures but I had no idea that it would happen so soon.
Starting late yesterday, anyone with a Pro account can upload videos in 90 second clips. They say that they want to keep it at 90 seconds to be “different” from YouTube but it’s pretty obvious that they are really simply trying to test the waters without major capacity cost increases. I predict that they will up the limit as time goes on and as they slowly upgrade their capacity to accept the demand.
So far, there has been no word if they will offer this service to free accounts. My prediction is that they will eventually up the limit of the Pro account to a significantly longer video length and then open up the 90 second slot to the free accounts once they install enough capacity to allow for it.
I uploaded this test video from my phone at lunch time using the same email address that I use to upload pictures. It worked flawlessly with no setup required.
